Heritage Walking Tour
Chinese Heritage Walk
The Chinese Culture Center offers docent-led walks through San Francisco’s Chinatown, emphasizing the various cultural achievements, social progression and histories of the Chinese community in America. The walk begins with a brief introduction at the Center and may include places of interest such as a Chinese temple, an herbal shop, a tea shop, a food market, church(es), school(s), community organizations such as the Chinese Historical Society of America, as well as architectural and other historical points of interest.
Tours last 1-1/2 to 2 hours and are available at 10am, Noon and 2pm from Tuesday through Saturday. For an additional cost, lunch is available upon request for the 10am tour.
Group tours should allow for 2 weeks advance booking. Groups of 5 or less may be accommodated 3 days in advance, depending on availability. There is a minimum charge of $90. Late cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee.
Our office is closed on Sunday and Monday.

NOTE: because we are located inside a hotel, they have requested that parties of 10 or more people coming to the 3rd floor for the Heritage Walk do so not by going through the hotel lobby and using the elevators but by crossing the street in front of the hotel to Portsmouth Square and using the Kearny Street Bridge to enter. Thanks for your cooperation.
Chinese Culinary Walk / Luncheon (currently unavailable)
Mystified by exotic Chinese cuisine? This introductory tour helps to explain the different styles of Chinese cooking by shopping for ingredients through visits to various markets, stores and factories in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Points of interest may include a fortune cookie factory, an herbalist, a teashop, fish and poultry markets, a Chinese grocery and stores selling cooking wares. The walk culminates with a dim sum luncheon, a culinary specialty which includes delicately flavored beef, pork and shrimp-filled dumplings wrapped in paper-thin dough, among other savory and sweet delicacies.
